Eligibility Requirements
Anyone can enroll in Wound Management Training Courses; however, only students meeting the certifying body's criteria are eligible to take the wound certification examination and receive certification credentials.
Wound Certification Information
The wound certification examinations and credentials are provided by the American Academy of Wound Management (AAWM). The AAWM is a national inter-disciplinary certifying board for healthcare professionals involved in wound care.
The Certified Wound Care Associate (CWCA) is a basic certification in wound management. Any healthcare professional with at least three years of clinical experience and a minimum education level of a high school diploma is eligible to take the CWCA examination.
The CWCA exams are held in February and August. There are over 700 testing centers nationwide. For more information on eligibility requirements and test information visit the American Academy of Wound Management (AAWM).
