Wound Certification Course Information
WoundEducators.com currently offers two wound care certification courses:
The Basic Wound Management Training Course
This course prepares students for the CWCA™ examination. The basic course is also ideal for individuals who may not be interested in wound certification, but who would like to obtain a better understanding of current evidence based wound management.
The Advanced Wound Management Training Course
This course prepares students for the CWS® examination. The advanced wound management training course is also ideal for current certified wound practitioners who need to prepare for re-certification.

Eligibility Requirements
Anyone may take the Wound Management Training Courses; however, only students meeting CWCA or the CWS criteria are eligible to take the wound certification examination and receive the certification credentials.
Wound Certification Information
The wound certification examinations and credentials are provided by the American Academy of Wound Management (AAWM). The AWM is a national inter-disciplinary certifying board for healthcare professionals involved in wound care. The AAWM offers two wound certifications.
The Certified wound care associate (CWCA™): A basic certification in wound management. Healthcare professionals must have a minimum of three years of clinical experience to be eligible to take this exam.
The Certified Wound Specialist (CWS®): An advanced certification in wound management. Healthcare professionals with either a Bachelors, Doctoral or Master's degree in a life sciences related field and who have three or more years of clinical wound care experience are eligible to take the CWS examination.

Continuing Education (CE/CME)
Physicians:
The Medical Society County of Orange, Inc. designates this educational activity
for a maximum of 27.5 AMA PRA Category I Credit(s)TM. Physicians should only
claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the
activity.
Nurses:
This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the New York State
Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing
Center’s Commission on Accreditation. It has been approved for 27.5 contact hours.
Physical Therapists:
This program is pending approval by the Texas
Physical Therapy Association for 27.5 contact hours.
